1. What topic did you choose for this project and why did you pick it?
I chose Global Warming as my controversial topic. I picked this because it is definitely something that needs more awareness to the severity and danger of what is happening. It is a problem that we, the people, have created and are continuing to create. Which means that it is something that humans can help slow down before it is too late.
2. Why did you pick the images that you used in your art?
I picked the images because I wanted to show an exaggerated depiction of what is happening. The Earth is getting really hot and really cold at the same time. Global Warming is a scary thing that is happening, and I wanted to get that point across in an image that shows potentially what is happening to the planet people live on.
3. What is the message of your work?
The message I want to get across is that you need to help NOW. Not in a few years when it's a big issue, now so we can hopefully prevent the Earth from dying. Global Warming is affecting the environment and habitats of animals. Animals are going extinct because their habitats are getting destroyed, and their food supply is going scarce. Our children and grandchildren are going to have to live in a world that we destroyed, and make them pay the consequences for it. How is that fair? Part of countries are going to be submerged by water, since the sea levels are rising. It starts with baby steps, but the small things you do DO count. Whether it's taking a shorter shower, or walking to more places, or even just raising awareness, you are helping to make a difference. You need to help before it's too late.
